We had a fun Thanksgiving week with our daughter and her family in Texas! We rented an Airbnb that would be spacious enough for their little family to join us and eat and hang out together. It was perfect! The kitchen was everyone's favorite. It was decorated so nicely and was super clean! The den offered plenty of comfy seating for us to sit around and talk and watch movies and YouTube. We even had our own porch kitties. It's become a joke with our family that the animals always seem to find us wherever we go, hahaha. But this little turkey was even sweeter than the cutest of kitties! Everyone had so much fun playing with him all week. He's grown and changed a ... Read more
Dining Room Refresh for Fall
I've been chipping away at a fall project list which included painting my dining room. I was ready for something fresh and colorful but not trendy. So instead of consulting Pinterest, I just went into a paint store and picked out a color that I thought was pretty. The color is "Retreat" by Sherwin Williams and it's a soft cross between blue and green, almost like a eucalyptus. I was happy to have the room finished and ready for a little company recently. Some friends came for tea and scones one afternoon and my daughter and I were excited to set a fall table in our “new” room. I love setting a table with fall colors and textures! Rustic woods with cozy knits. ... Read more
Fall in LOVE with Autumn
Happy fall! I have some photos to share of the season so far, and they are some of the reasons we all fall in LOVE with autumn over and over again each year. Corn fields.... Cotton fields..... Sunflower fields! Pumpkin patches..... Pumpkin French toast and a sweet Pumpkin kitty! Cool nights at the football field. A fall porch with a freshly painted front door. Fall flowers!!! Coneflowers are my new favorite. Starry walks! A first fire with my morning coffee. Always coffee. The cats are getting snuggly. A mama bird nesting one last time for the year? I've read that in our warmer climates they will lay eggs as late as ... Read more
Virginia’s Autumn Foliage
Last week our family traveled through beautiful Virginia! We visited Williamsburg, Jamestown, Monticello, Mount Vernon, and Busch Gardens. We were also able to visit family which was the best treat of all. Next week I'll post more photos from each of our stops and visits (I have sooo many pics to sort through this week!) but for today, I just want to share some of the lovely fall foliage we enjoyed. I hope you're having a very happy and blessed autumn! I'll be back soon with lots of pictures and details from our week in Virginia. ... Read more
Girls’ Trip to Texas
Last week my daughter and I went to visit my married daughter in Texas and we had a lot of fun! Magnolia was beautiful, as always. I don't watch Chip and Joanna's show so I don't know much about them and therefor wouldn't really call myself a fan, but I do enjoy visiting Magnolia. We went for a couple of hours one morning to do a little walking around and grab some lunch from the food truck. The pizza is our favorite! The shops are a little expensive, so we didn't buy anything, but all of their products are beautiful! And they even had some Christmas items out which was exciting. Before leaving we got some refreshment from the coffee shop! Next, we went to ... Read more
Fluff the Nest Friday: A Little Pumpkin Inspo
Happy Friday! I've yet to display pumpkins at my front entrance because it's been so warm here and my past attempts at putting them out too early always resulted in them rotting before we made it to Thanksgiving. However, after my 52-degree walk this morning, I'd say we're turning a corner with the weather! Woohoo! My daughter and I took a trip to Texas this week to visit my married daughter (I'll have a post about that next week) and while enjoying some fun outings I noticed a lot of beautiful pumpkin displays that inspired some good ideas for my own home. Above are some pretty arrangements at the Fables bookstore and below are several more we saw at Magnolia. Something that ... Read more
Tidbits from September
I pray all of you have been safe from the destruction caused by the hurricane over the weekend. It has been so heartbreaking to see the news footage and hear the ongoing reports of more lives lost. It was a sad ending to September. September passed so quickly, I didn't even take many photos of daily life. I'll need to be more intentional in October. But here goes anyway. I did a lot of bread baking in September but still haven't gotten back into sourdough other than just keeping my starter alive. What you see pictured in these photos is yeast bread using my milled grain. It's my family's favorite. On Labor Day we stayed home, did a little work in the morning, and then ate a ... Read more
