I’ve been chipping away at a fall project list which included painting my dining room. I was ready for something fresh and colorful but not trendy. So instead of consulting Pinterest, I just went into a paint store and picked out a color that I thought was pretty.

The color is “Retreat” by Sherwin Williams and it’s a soft cross between blue and green, almost like a eucalyptus.

I was happy to have the room finished and ready for a little company recently.

Some friends came for tea and scones one afternoon and my daughter and I were excited to set a fall table in our “new” room.

I love setting a table with fall colors and textures!

Rustic woods with cozy knits.

Greens, browns, creams, and gold. Flickery candles.

Autumn offers such richness, doesn’t it!

I was tickled to find these quail napkins on a mark down shelf at Home Goods. A pack of 8 for $9.99!

I never really know exactly how I’m going to set a table. I might have an idea to start with (such as the quail napkins in this case), but the fun is just pulling some items, playing around, and not taking it too seriously! Most of my tables are set at the last minute with a lot of whimsy.

It makes me a little sad to think about packing away this season’s decor soon, but at least I still have my freshly painted walls to carry over into the next season. I love a completed project that stays “done” for a while!
Have a great weekend!

That wall color is beautiful…along with the other details you added! I adore those napkins too! I also love the tea set up with tea lights, brilliant idea 💡 so much to love in this room🫶
Aww, that’s so kind of you, Jenny! It sounds like you and I have similar tastes and would enjoy a cup of tea together! I hope you are having a lovely Thanksgiving week!
Alinda, the dining room color is gorgeous! It’s so rich, warm and inviting. I LOVE a freshly painted room with a pretty pop of color! Your tea and scones table is also inviting! I’m with you about a fall table setting. I’ve had several opportunities recently to set the table with my fall pieces, and have loved it.
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family!🦃
I’m glad you like the color, Denise! It’s amazing what a difference a can of paint can make, and I’ve never minded painting a room so if I decide later I want to change it, I will! I know your fall tables were beautiful—- you always set a pretty table! Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family!🍂🦃🍂
Oh I love your dining room color. It’s very close to it not exactly what I have been wanting to paint our dining room and half bath. Your table is beautiful! I agree with Aunt Linda, I would have wanted to buy those napkins if I saw them too.
Thank you, Heidi! Oh that’s neat that we’re both drawn to the same color! We’ve enjoyed it— the name “Retreat” suits it well. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family! 🦃🧡🥧
Very pretty! And … YES, I would have bought those napkins too!!😃
Oh, if they’d had another pack or two of those napkins, I definitely would have bought more! I’m glad you like the color. I’m enjoying the change. The kids and hubs keep saying how much they like it too so I’m extra happy about that!!
I think your wall color is perfectly perfect! Great job with picking out a color cold turkey! I get lost for days researching a paint color! I also love the napkins! What a find!
It’s so easy to get bogged down in the color options out there!! I’ll look forward to having you over in the hopefully-not-so-distant future for a meal in my dining room. Happy fall, Kelli! 🍁
