We had a simple and meaningful Resurrection Sunday. With my youngest now 15 years old, gone are the days of Easter weekend being full of egg hunts, crafts, and recreating Passover meals. As everyone grows up, these kinds of weekends are being redefined in their structure but certainly not in their meaning. While I will always be sentimental about those sweet younger years, I really enjoy and appreciate a week of more grownup time in reflection, study, and prayer. I had some thoughts to share last week in regards to the Resurrection–so much I had been pondering—but I did not feel well last week, so blogging was put on the back burner and those thoughts remained in my heart for my own personal reflection. Maybe I’ll still share them soon.

For Easter morning I like to make a special breakfast for my family. This year was sausage/bacon breakfast casserole and strawberry lemon curd rolls. Wow, those rolls were delicious! I told my daughter about the idea earlier in the week and being the baker she is, she wanted to help. So on Saturday afternoon we got in the kitchen and worked on them together.

By the time they were finally finished that evening, we were all drooling and wanting a sample. So, I dished up one roll on a plate with four forks and we all dove in! Soooo good.

With our breakfast, we had Fresh Market’s spring blend coffee and Biltmore Hibiscus Berry Wassail. My daughter and her friend took a spring break trip to the Biltmore Estate a couple of weeks ago and for my birthday she brought me back a beautiful plate and the wassail mix which was perfect for our Easter morning breakfast.

After breakfast (and Easter baskets! They haven’t outgrown that yet, yay!), we headed to church for a very sweet worship service and lesson. During the singing the PA system stopped working, taking out our worship leader’s microphone, but the whole congregation did not miss a beat and kept singing loudly. It was lovely. We were all too joyful over our risen Savior to let it stop our worship.

We have a very talented lady in our church who arranges flowers every year for the service and I was thankful for my hubs and kids who kindly obliged Mom with a family photo!

After church we headed to my mother-in-law’s house for a delicious spring lunch and some scrumptious desserts.

I took an English pea salad and Cadbury egg cookies which has become an Easter tradition at our house.

After lunching with my husband’s side of the family, we went over to my mom and dad’s house to visit with my side of the family (and maybe nibble a few more desserts). At some point we realized our dogs back at home were probably in need of being released back into the great outdoors, so we headed home, put on comfy clothes, and relaxed with some tv for the evening. Our Texas daughter sent pictures of their little family at church and the lunch they hosted for friends. It was their baby boys’ first Easter! 🐣
So very thankful for a day celebrating our Jesus with worship, family, and feasting.

Breakfast looked amazing! Those strawberry lemon curd rolls would make a delicious tea time snack, hint, hint! Can’t wait to try the new wassail punch, too. You family pic is beautiful!
Yes, they’d be perfect for tea time!! Hmm, we’ll have to think about which tea. Lady Grey or a strawberry green tea maybe?? We’ll just have to workshop it!

It looks like you had a wonderful Easter! I love your family picture! I can’t believe how much your son has grown since we saw you last year. My youngest still gets excited about Easter baskets too. While she has also outgrown egg hunts she enjoys scavenger hunts so the past two years she has gone on a scavenger hunt to find her Easter basket.
Oh, Heidi, I love the idea of a scavenger hunt! I might have to use that idea next year. And goodness yes, he has grown a lot this year and is a good bit taller than his mama now (I was wearing heels in that pic). I hope y’all had a wonderful Easter!
