Hello, friends! Hope you all had a blessed Thanksgiving holiday! I did NOT do too great of a job remembering to take photos all week so what I have is so random. But here goes!
The Saturday before Thanksgiving week, my daughter had her senior photos taken by a friend’s daughter. My daughter wanted to have them taken in our woods and some at the barn down the road from our house. We were even able to borrow Midnight, the horse she used to lease, which made for some fun photos! They are still best buddies. Matty, the photographer, was so sweet and had such great ideas.
Also that afternoon, our daughter and son-in-law came in from Texas! My son and I got his bedroom and bath ready for their stay and the cat warmed up the bed for our guests. What hospitality, Floyd-O!
That evening we all went to our little downtown for dinner and for our daughter to see her long-lost friend at work. These two have been besties since junior high and the stretch from June to November was definitely the longest they’ve gone without seeing each other. We pulled up to the curb and our daughter shot out of the van and ran to hug her friend. It was such a sweet reunion. I’m crying just looking at this photo again.
On Sunday we went to church, and everyone was so excited to see the newlyweds back. That afternoon some college friends came over for taco salads and visiting. It was back to the piano for our daughter and her music friend.
Throughout the week, they visited more friends and family and the rest of the time we enjoyed some down time as a family. A hike at our favorite trail was in order.
We also watched some Christmas movies and “I Love Lucy”. Our daughter has introduced her husband to the show and now he’s a big fan and will be able to understand all the quotes we throw out in conversation!
The firepit was a good place to chill and chat one evening.
I didn’t take pictures on Thanksgiving Day (other than some family photos before leaving but I won’t post those here) —I didn’t even get a picture of my plate of food, ha!
Friday night we hosted an engagement party/shower at our house for my nephew and his fiancé. We kept a fall theme and told everyone to bring their favorite recipes on a card along with the pantry ingredients for that recipe. We got a lot of laughs over the recipe stories. It was so much fun!
My sister-in-law brought all the flowers and twinkle lights. Very autumnal vibes for our last fall fling!
Don’t you love the Pioneer Woman seasonal paper goods at Walmart!
I gave my nephew and his bride some different options for our meal, and they chose the soup and sandwiches which was perfect for a chilly evening.
My sister and SIL helped with the food. We served a tomato soup and a chowder along with sandwiches, salad, and “brumpkin”. Brumpkin is a term my nephew coined for the pumpkin rolls I make each year—that’s “bread” + “pumpkin”. Haha!
For dessert we had s’mores and hot chocolate outside and chocolate gooey bars and coffee for those who wanted to stay inside. It was such a fun night honoring the sweetest couple. They are so excited and so are we!
We slept in a bit Saturday morning and then my daughter and I slipped out to do a little shopping for some Christmas decorations for her apartment. I love watching her enjoy making a home for her new family of her husband and her.
Her last request for the week was that we decorate the tree before they went back to Texas. Pumpkin was most happy to see Christmas come back around this year!
We ended the evening with one last s’mores roasting.
I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving week! We are now in full Christmas swing!
