Sunday holds a lot of tradition and special meaning in our home: worship, rest, family time, good food, and PIE!
Sunday is PIE DAY at our house. I’m not exactly sure how it came about, but pie just seems right for Sundays. I guess because pie is special and so are Sundays, so naturally they should go together.
We don’t have pie every Sunday, but most. We have our favorites that stay in a regular pie rotation, but then I like to try new recipes too. This summer I’ve tried two new pie recipes that were really good: Peach Pie and Lemon Mascarpone Cream Pie!
We have had outrageously delicious peaches this year! They are so good to peel and eat just as they are, but I have been holding out some for baking too.
For this Peach Pie, I used a peach filling recipe from Taste of Home (I cut the nutmeg to 1/8 tsp, but followed everything else exactly). I loved everything about this filling! For the crust I used the Perfect Pie Crust recipe from Taste Better From Scratch. I’m a little crazy for pie crust and this one does not disappoint!

For the Lemon Mascarpone Cream Pie I found this recipe from Life Love and Sugar. I’ve become interested in recipes that use Mascarpone because it’s sooo smooth and creamy, but not heavy. It adds a great texture to fillings, which made for a very fluffy lemony pie!
Sometimes I wish everyday was pie day, but I think the fact that we don’t have it every day is part of what makes it special for Sundays. Come Mondays, we’re back to salads and healthier eating, which is always nice too.
