My nephew got married this past weekend! He married a precious girl he met at college in their church’s campus ministry, and it is a match made in heaven. Their wedding venue was pretty heavenly as well! The couple selected a picturesque barn situated on a rolling hill with a little pond, and it was just perfect.
The reception tables inside were so elegant! My sister worked with a wedding coordinator, who happens to be a long-time friend of our family, to pull these together.
My sister potted ferns and other green plants for the centerpieces. The gold lanterns, candles, and soft blue runners were provided by the coordinator.
The bridesmaids wore light blue dresses, and the groomsmen wore navy suits with light blue ties. The bride’s sister made these lovely bouquets for the bridesmaids which they can hold on to as a keepsake long after the wedding.
As guests started to arrive, there was plenty of room to mingle and stay cool inside. The same chairs that would be used for the ceremony were later brought up to the barn and placed around the tables for the reception as soon as the outdoor ceremony was finished.
Outside the barn was a sign-in table including a Bible for guests to highlight verses to encourage the couple in their marriage.
This covered porch ran along the side of the barn and offered a view of the pond.
The wedding ceremony took place by the pond, and it couldn’t have been a prettier setting for their vows! It was a hot afternoon in Alabama, but once the ceremony was over everyone returned to the shaded indoors of the barn for the reception. My brother-in-law has been their campus minister for the last four years, so they asked him to perform their ceremony. He will also marry my daughter and soon-to-be SIL in just a few weeks!
Our wedding coordinator friend is also a gifted florist, and she arranged these gorgeous flowers for the arbor! I got to bring one of these clusters home with me–woohoo! — and will show you what I did with them in another post.
She also added these sweet roses to the wedding cake.
I wish I’d snapped a photo of the buffet table, but somehow missed it. In addition to the cake, the bride’s family provided a delightful assortment of fruits and sweets, and my sister provided charcuterie cups. Part of the fun of having my daughter engaged at the same time as my nephew has been that my sister and I have enjoyed brainstorming together with wedding ideas. We’d been sharing ideas for charcuterie cups which I was able to try out for my daughter’s piano recital reception, so I’ll share a picture when I post about her recital this week.
Before we knew it, it was time for the newlyweds to make their departure. Everyone lined up at the barn’s entrance and was given a little envelope of dried rose petals–a lovely touch!
Here’s one last view of the beautiful barn.
And here’s my favorite photo of the day! What a sweet couple!
It was such a fun wedding and weekend! Our future son-in-law was in town, and we enjoyed having him stay with us and join us for meals, movie, games, and Sunday church.
Today I’ll be whipping the house back in shape, running a few errands, and hopefully working on some posts about my daughter’s wedding showers and graduation events. Be back tomorrow!

What a beautiful wedding! We’re the bouquets wooden flowers or dried? I love the blue!
Alinda
The bouquets were made of shaved wood that had been soaked in something (I’ll find out what) making them feel almost like leather. They were so pretty and unique!!
