We got snow, y’all! The last time we had snow touch the ground and stick my son was 6 years old and missing his front teeth. Now he’s 14, taller than his mom, and has all his permanent teeth, ha!
Our woods were so pretty, all white and gray. We got a little more snow than what’s pictured here.
The dogs loved the snow! We took them down to the woods to run around and they had big zoomies. My daughter got the cutest picture of Liberty with snowflakes on her face.
My son and his friends had a blast all afternoon long, running up and down our back hill, sliding on makeshift sleds of a plastic kiddie pool and sheets of cardboard, and having a snowball fight that turned into an all-out SNOW WAR. Snow only comes to us about every 5-7 years which means the next time we get snow, these guys could actually be in college or young adults. I’m so thankful they enjoyed their snow day to the fullest in kidlike ways. sniff sniff
The next day the sun was shining brightly, the sky was blue, and the snow was melting. One day of snow is just about right for me. I loved how pretty it was and how cozy we got inside with blankets and hot chocolate while watching it come down. And I especially loved watching the neighborhood kiddos get so excited over it. But we just aren’t equipped for it down here. I think if I could live in Alaska one winter, in a cabin, having groceries delivered to my door while I stay in by the fire, sipping coffee and reading books or doing needlepoint, then YES, I would take lots of snow!
My friend and I were laughing about how our Southern kids have to wear socks on their hands for lack of gloves, and layers of hoodies in the absence of puffy coats. I guess it’s a good thing that our temps are back in the 70’s this week so the kids can wear their shorts again! To my friends from the North, feel free to go ahead and laugh for it is truly laughable. And if you think that’s funny, you should see our pitiful little snowmen–teeny tiny and full of dirt and grass. We’re more accustomed to building sandcastles down here!
