The Ways of Her Home

Embracing the homeward call

Snapshot Saturday: Some of Everything

November 5, 2022

Good Saturday morning! I’m a little late with this post but I want to save these snapshots from the week so I’m going to go through them speedily!

We trick-or-treated with our neighbor friends on Halloween night and the kids had a blast! Halloween isn’t our favorite, so we don’t do a lot with it, but we love costumes and of course we love time with friends so it’s fun to get together for an evening of dressing up and eating tons of candy.

Some of my photos are little blurry here—sorry–but I want to show you how pretty some of the front porches were with their fall decorations.

Afterwards our friends invited us back to their house for a delicious chili supper and goodies!

Floyd was acting especially creepy in this photo on Halloween day. I guess this is his Dracula pose.

My daughter turned 18 this week! She doesn’t like a big celebration but prefers her yearly trip to Bass Pro Shops to shop for fall clothes and then to Five Guys for hamburgers.

Bass Pro is dog friendly, so we usually take Barney and he loves it!

It was a good thing he was on a leash because he was really wanting to jump in the water and catch those fish!

And we have to take a yearly photo of him with the bear. (Another blurry photo this week!)

Here he is giving his sad eyes while we were eating but don’t buy it! He got fries tossed at him the entire time.

On her actual birthday night, I made my daughter’s favorite meal of BBQ and sides which you can read about here.

For the last several years my girl has insisted on making her own birthday dessert because “bakers gonna bake”, but this year she changed up and asked for a cookie cake from Great American Cookie. Ahhh, so good!

Also this week there was more done in the woods to get ready for fall and winter gatherings.

And my son’s fall soccer season officially ended with his last game–a chilly one!

I’m going to miss seeing these cows across from the soccer field! You know you live in a small town when the soccer field is next to a cow field. I love it!

A special treat this week was getting to have coffee with a friend! It is very rare that I can get away on a weekday unless it’s a doctor’s appointment, so this was definitely a welcomed treat.

We met at a little coffee shop that was once a car mechanic’s shop, so it’s decorated with the neatest nostalgic car theme and their menu also reflects the old building’s past as well. “Autumn-otive” pumpkin spice latte, anyway? My friend and I had such a good time catching up and she brought me the sweetest gift which I’ll share in my next post.

I was working at my desk one afternoon and stopped to thank God for the colorful trees outside my window.

Boy, I love this time of year!

Thanks so much for popping in today! Hope you have a lovely fall weekend!
