What a fun week! A busy, but fun week!
Sister Saturday
Last Saturday our church hosted a Sister Saturday which comes around quarterly with a different theme. The theme this time was “Homemade Holiday”. I took my mom and my mother-in-law, and we enjoyed four classes including homemade gifts, holiday games, holiday food, and table setting/flower arranging.
I didn’t think to take pictures until we got to the table setting/flower arranging class. If you enjoy flowers and beautiful tablescapes, you’d love this class! The lady you see in the photo above decorated all the tables you see here and gave a lesson on flower arranging along with handy tips for your tablescapes. She’s so incredibly talented! Following our class rotation, we were fed a delicious lunch of holiday favorites. It was such a fun day.
Fall Soccer Party
Also last weekend, we hosted the families of our daughter’s soccer team. It was a chilly evening, but we had a blast! The girls stayed huddled around the creek firepit for the first part of the night while the little brothers played on the zipline until time for supper. We served chili and toppings. My handy hubby kept three fires going all night so there was a place for everyone to stay warm.
Can’t have a soccer party without kicking around the soccer ball and having some friendly competition!
Later in the evening we made s’mores and served hot chocolate.
It was a fun night, and the families were all so very nice to get to know.
Friendsgiving
On Wednesday evening our life group had our annual Friendsgiving meal, and it was another chilly night which meant more fires!
And ham! I made chicken & dressing casserole and baked a ham. My daughter and I made butterscotch pies–yum! The rest of the ladies (my bye-bye sisters) brought just about everything else you can imagine at a holiday meal: veggies, bread, casseroles, dessert. It was such a delicious meal. We have the best cooks in our group!
Our sweet girls always eat around the coffee table. It’s so good to hear the laughter coming from the den.
Calling BINGO
My son and I called BINGO again this week! There is one sweet old lady in particular who I just love. She has trouble recognizing her numbers so her daughter comes to help her play her BINGO cards. They sit at my table where my son and I call the bingo balls and we have the most fun joking around. The mother can hardly speak but she smiles and laughs the entire time and is the epitome of joy!
Homeschool Cozy!
Speaking of joy, nothing brings me joy in this chilly season like all the coziness of fuzzy socks, my “homeschool sweater”, and a steaming mug of coffee or tea in hand! This is pretty much how our school days go and I love it!
Hope you find some coziness in your weekend. We’re all excited to welcome home our daughter and son-in-law from Texas who will be arriving today for Thanksgiving week and I can. not. wait!!! We haven’t seen them in person since August and we miss them so much!
