Happy weekend! Just a few photos from the week!
The cats love gazing out all the windows of the house, but the kitchen is their favorite right now.
My son and his friend are taking tennis lessons from my nephew, and they are loving it. We go into the city for their weekly lesson, but I took them to a nearby tennis court one morning for some extra practice. It’s in a neighborhood next to our neighborhood and there is a shaded sitting area for me to read or work in my planner.
The zinnias in front of the gas tank had gotten so tall and were hiding that ugly tank so nicely until a heavy storm came and knocked them over….well, flattened them. I tried to lift them but that didn’t work and after a few days they were growing up from the ground and kinda making their own little garden and it’s so wild and carefree and I’m quite liking it!
This photo below isn’t very clear, but I have to show you our new little garden friend. It’s a mouse! Usually, I am NOT a fan of mice, but this one has been so cute to watch and just reminds of a little storybook character. As long as he stays outside, he’s welcome.
This was baking day and these are the grains I mill each week for bread, muffins, pancakes, etc. We like soft white, hard white, hard red, and spelt.
I’ve mostly been making yeast breads lately but am also getting ready to pick back up sourdough now that gardening season is winding down. My starter, “Mrs. March”, and is really showing off lately! Usually, she will bubble just almost to the top of the jar, but I came into the kitchen one morning to find this….
We officially start our 17th homeschool year next week! Our tradition is to make the Friday before the first week a pre-first day of school for their school surprises, looking over our new materials for each subject, and doing something fun to celebrate. So, yesterday we did just that and since my husband was working at home, we went to our favorite hotdog place in our little downtown area for lunch.
The kids have always gotten a back-to-school basket with some supplies they need plus a few fun treats to eat on those first few days of school. My son is in 8th grade and I’m enjoying this last little (not so little) student of mine!
And even though my daughter no longer homeschools, she still gets a basket as did my oldest when she was in college. This year she will be taking online equine veterinarian (assistant) courses while working at a preschool and volunteering at an equine therapy center for children with special needs. She’s been volunteering there for a few months now and it’s just her favorite thing ever!
Well, that’s about it. Not many photos this week because I mostly worked on cleaning out and organizing around the house.
Hope you all have a lovely weekend! My daughter and I are headed to a ladies’ event at our church today and maybe I’ll share about it next week. Thanks for stoppping by!

He’s really kinda cute 🐭 and not the nasty ratty kind! 😂 With all the butterflies and birds out there, he fits right in like another character of an old story.
Yes, she just registered for her classes and will start this week I think!
