Hi, friends! We’ve been busy around here finishing one month and beginning another. Here are a few snapshots from our week.
Birthday Trip!
January ended with our son’s 12th birthday and a special overnight trip to the Great Wolf Lodge in LaGrange, Georgia to enjoy their indoor water park and slides! More on this adventure next week but here’s a sneak peek.
We all got complimentary wolf ears at the lodge which my son just had to torment the poor cat with. But I must say, it was pretty hilarious how long Floyd left those ears on Our cats put up with a lot!

Blogiversary
Also at the end of January was my blog’s 4th anniversary! You can read my very first post here, and I also realized it had been a couple of years since I’d updated my “About Me” page, so I brought that up to date. I had another blog for 3 years before I started The Work of Her Hands, so I’ve actually been blogging for 7 years which is so hard to believe! I’ve truly enjoyed blogging as a little creative outlet and a fun way to connect with other women to share and receive encouragement and friendship. Thank you SO MUCH to all of your for stopping by to visit my little bloggy home, reading, and commenting!

February Subscription Box
The start of a new month meant it was time to send a February care box to my daughter in Texas. She loves getting these and I love picking out little goodies I think she’ll enjoy for that month. She texted me a while back to tell me how much she enjoys getting her boxes and asked me to please keep sending those because it gives her something to look forward to when she’s homesick. She said, “It’s like getting a subscription box each month!” so that’s what we call it now.

Valentine Party
Yes, we’ve already had our first Valentine party! Yesterday, our homeschool group combined our Valentine party with a special service project–a breakfast for a special group of ladies! More details coming soon.

The Mama Tree
My sweet friend and fellow adoptive mom (and an adoptee!) Jukie K sent me a copy of her new children’s book about adoption! In The Mama Tree, a five-year-old Julie explains the meaning of her own adoption in a way children can understand and find comfort. It’s soooo sweet! I’m so proud of Julie. This is her second book, and I don’t know anyone more passionate about adoption. She’s been a great encouragement to me and we’ve laughed and cried together through our adoption journeys. I plan on giving this book to everyone I know who adopts! Order your copy from Sweet Home Books or Amazon.

Great minds think alike…I had just bought the same book to give to you! I’ll pass it along to someone else!!
Alinda
That’s funny because Joel called home wolf cat too! 😂
Aww, thank you for the thought, Mom! I got to be an early reader for Julie’s book before it was published and she put my quote on the back! That’s a first for me. ☺️ Such an honor!
