The Ways of Her Home

Embracing the homeward call

Snapshot Saturday

October 8, 2022

Hello, weekend friends! Wow, the weeks pass so quickly and before I know it, it’s time for another Snapshot Saturday. We spent most of this week outside soaking up these early days of autumn!

Saturday morning started at the soccer field. We are enjoying our son’s fall soccer season, the fresh air, sunshine, and friends! And my husband would also add getting a hamburger from the concession stand at 9:00 in the morning, lol! I don’t think we’d crave a hamburger for breakfast anytime other than soccer season, but that aroma coming from the ball field grill smells so good during the games.

After the soccer game we attended a special charity walk for our local Down Syndrome group. We have a very special friend who has Down Syndrome and she is the sweetest, most precious soul you’d ever know! She has quite a fan club at our church with our teen and college girls who absolutely adore her.

There were many activities there for the kids including face painting and large inflatables. My son thoroughly enjoyed himself on repeated trips up and down the giant slide.

Later in the day we watched the Alabama game….well, not all of us because this tired mama fell asleep but Roll Tide anyway!

I love SO MUCH about fall and one of many things is watching the fall crops change weekly as we drive into town. This cotton field was just starting to show some white puffs as we drove to church on Sunday (see below), but by yesterday the field was already more than 50% white. We have a field trip later this month to watch the cotton harvest and we can’t wait!

Our weather has been so pleasant! Chilly in the mornings, warm but not too hot in the afternoons, and then cool again in the evenings. This means we are outside as much as possible morning, noon, and night!

It also means the deer and cute little woodland creatures are out and about more. This is not the best photo, but we are seeing so many deer in our front and back yards. (Ignore the big target in the photo…..ironic, I know, that the deer is right beside it.)

The nice weather also means that the dogs are getting lots of walks with us!

Speaking of dogs, Liberty Lou got to attend her first football game Thursday night and a few bites of hotdog from the concession stand.

The happiest news this week was that another of my nephews got engaged to a sweetheart of a lady! Y’all, my nephews are finding the most wonderful girls and we are sooo happy to welcome them each to the family!

Well, this little kitty girl is weekend ready with her paws kicked up and all relaxed. Actually, every day is weekend to her!

Ok, here’s to another week completed and a new one about to begin which will include more soccer, some fall yardwork, painting a bathroom, and a camping trip next weekend!
