The Ways of Her Home

Embracing the homeward call

School Day Breakfast and Beverage

September 24, 2021

I mentioned in a post about our first week of school that, because we didn’t have as much as much expense in curriculum and other materials this year, we got our two homeschoolers a back-to-school gift. Each gift cost $25 at Target, and both gifts make the work of our hands a little lighter when it comes to school morning breakfasts!

Our son loves a good breakfast sandwich! My husband bought him a breakfast sandwich at a drive thru one morning on their way to the city dump, which is a total guy thing! Ever since then, he’s enjoyed making them at home. So when my husband and I were on a date at Target (because our dates are either to Target or Dollar General these days), and he spotted this Hamilton Beach Breakfast Sandwich Maker, we knew this was the perfect school gift for our boy!

This sandwich maker is easy to use and my son can pretty much manage it all himself except for lifting the rings after the sandwich is cooked (They slide around easily and they’re hot so be careful!).

The instructions are clear on how to layer each ingredient: English muffin bottom, meat, cheese, egg, and English muffin top. You just layer everything into the machine and it cooks it all at one time, into one sandwich!

For the meat, we use Canadian bacon, precooked sausage patties, or just sandwich meat. The egg cooks on it’s own plate that you slide out when the sandwich is done.

It’s a breakfast fit for a king! Or maybe just a hungry 10-year old boy.

My teen daughter can’t stomach much breakfast in the morning and usually waits until later to get some fruit or a smoothie, but she does enjoy a good decaf iced coffee– something she took a liking to after I’d introduced her to them at Disney World last spring (We ended up drinking one every day at DW!).

We found this Mr. Coffee Iced Coffee Maker which brews a single serving of iced coffee right into an insulated tumbler (included) in just a few minutes!

She adds some cream and is off to start her school day!

I recently checked the prices on both of these gadgets at Target and they were still $25. These would make great Christmas gifts for your iced coffee drinkers or breakfast sandwich eaters!
