The Ways of Her Home

Embracing the homeward call

Oh, Come Let us Adore….Baby Jeefus!

December 17, 2024

I had the sweetest experience Sunday morning while in our 2-year-old room at church. Through this month the children are learning about the birth of Christ and so there was a wooden manger in the classroom. There is just nothing sweeter than hearing little ones talk about the Baby Jesus, or as one tiny voice exclaimed, “Baby Jeefus!”

“Our manger is empty! Who can help me find Baby Jesus to place in the manger?”, I challenged during playtime.

These sweet children–just babies themselves–scurried to the toy bins to be the first to retrieve a baby doll. We ended up with not one, but FOUR Baby Jeefuses!

They cuddled, rocked, and kissed Baby Jesus. They placed him carefully in the manger and brought him blankets for his comfort and toys for his enjoyment. It was just the most precious thing ever to watch these sweet children ADORE him as the shepherds and angels did the night the real Baby Jesus was born.

I wonder if we as adults are taking time to adore HIM this season and all year long. Not just the Baby Jesus, but Christ, our Lord. It’s not just a cute story for kids. That baby grew to be a man who died on the cross for our sins so that we may have eternal life in heaven! He deserves all our praise and adoration we could possibly give!

I encourage you to talk to a little child about the birth of Christ, not just for their sake but also for your own. The nativity is even more special through the eyes of a child. Maybe you don’t currently have little ones in your household or extended family (we don’t either as of now), but you can teach a Bible class or find a young neighbor. Their joy and wonder over the nativity will remind us of just how precious our Savior is!

Do you know Him? Oh, He’s so wonderful and He knows you! And He loves you so much, He died for you so you can be with Him for all of eternity. This earth is just temporary, but heaven can be our eternal home if we accept His gift of Salvation.

O come all ye faithful
Joyful and triumphant
O come ye o come ye
To Bethlehem
Come and behold Him
Born the King of angels
O come let us adore Him
O come let us adore Him
O come let us adore Him
Christ the Lord
