Good morning, peeps! I’m popping in here quickly to share some very simple ideas for cute Easter treats! I don’t think there’s anyone who doesn’t get excited at the first sighting of Easter Peeps each spring. I’ll tell you a secret though: I don’t really love eating the peeps, but I do have a lot of fun using them in what I call “food crafts”.
First up, fruit skewers with peeps gets some healthy fruit in the kids’ diets but with a small sugary treat that says “Easter”!
My girls and I made these precious bunny peep cars one year with Twinkies for the car body, pretzels for the steering wheel, and jumbo marshmallows for the tires. These were a hit with all our little cousins. Aren’t the so adorable!
My mom and I were in a little downtown store last week and my son was with us. The ladies in the store were handing out peep bags to children and gave one of these to my son. I thought this was such a creative idea! I love that they made it into a message of Jesus and the Resurrection. This would be so perfect for Sunday school class.
“Carrot” cheese crackers are a cinch to make with rectangular crackers, canned squirt cheese, and fresh dill. Simply squirt the cheese out in a carrot shape by starting heavy at the top, squiggling and tapering off as you go towards the bottom. Then add a little dill sprig at the top of the “carrot”.
My baker girl and I enjoy making seasonal cookies, and for Easter we make all kinds of springy shapes. Packaged in a cellophane bag with a little paper shred and a bow makes them a sweet little gift. Top it with a tag from Jennifer at Memory Makin’ Momma to take it up a notch! You can find her on Instagram. Just click “Tags” on her highlight bar to see her designs, and message her to purchase a downloadable design. I have her tags for several seasons and use them over and over again every year on goodies, plants, gift bags, etc. You name it!
The cross tag above is tied onto cross cookies we delivered at our Nonie’s assisted living facility one year. Last year, I tied the same tag onto some small individual petunias for the women in my family. Very pretty seeing them all lined up in a basket on Easter Day!
These little Peter Cottontail tags are perfect tie-ons for goodie bags. These were some treats we made up for friends a few years ago, but Jennifer also now has a blue Peter Cottontail design that I’ve recently purchased for our boys’ goodie bags this year. We’re having some friends over Friday for a little Easter play date and my son and I have had fun picking out some treats for him to put together, topped with a tag, of course!
I hope you have a fun week of Easter preps for your Easter peeps!
