Around here, Friday is the day to “fluff the nest”, which is just a much cuter way of saying “clean the house”. Am I right? So my Friday posts are all about tidying up and getting the house fresh and in order for the weekend. Some weeks my nest-fluffing comes more easily than others. I need motivation each Friday.

It’s been a summer full of fun activities and (minor) home projects. Next week I’ll have a couple of posts to share updates on our summer bucket list and our summer project list. Today is a little sneak preview of one quick project I did to fluff up my bedroom!
Our master bedroom was a little cramped with a giant desk that was once very functional, but had become no longer necessary (except for the laundry it often held!). We moved that desk to our daughter’s room where it will get much use during the remainder of her college years. That corner was then free to create a space I’ve been wanting for a long time: a small sitting area!
I purchased nothing at all, but simply used some chairs that had been squeezed in opposite corners of our room, hung some photos and a wreath I grabbed from other rooms in the house, and brought down a table, a lamp, and an old flower arrangement from the attic. If I were going to buy all new decor, then yes, maybe I would have picked out slightly different items. But I love to shop my own house and attic and use what I have.
I’m so happy with this new corner!! It gives Joel and me a place to sit and talk with a cup of coffee, away from the activity of the household (and believe me, there is much activity in our house these days! …which we LOVE, but sometimes need to step away from to hear each other talk 😄) It’s also a lovely spot for my morning Bible study and prayer time. With no school this summer, I’ve been able to linger in this spot and in the Word longer than I usually can during the school year. It’s quiet, peaceful, and rejuvenating!
Is there a spot in your house that you’ve thought about making into a more functional space? It doesn’t have to be a big expense! Shop around your house and your storage to see what items you could use to accomplish your vision!
