HAPPY FRIYAY, friends! (Are we still saying “Friyay” or is that out? I’ll ask my girls.)
Anywho, I’m taking our fluff post outside today to show you a couple of ways I’ve cleaned up my front porch. Late winter is when my porch really starts to look dingy and in need of some freshening up. It’s tricky because it’s not quite time to deck it all out with spring flowers and bunnies, but I need something to hold me over until then. I hosted a bridal shower at my house last Sunday for my nephew’s fiancé (more to come soon!) and wanted the entrance to look a little more presentable. I couldn’t do everything on my wish list, so I chose a few things that were the most manageable and affordable for the time being.
In my opinion, if nothing else can be done, a good sweeping and a new doormat will instantly freshen up an entryway! I swept and hosed off the concrete and sometime this spring I’ll pressure wash it to get rid of the green yuck. It would have been nice to have done that before the shower, but when it comes to crunch time, some things just have to go, right? As you can see, my new doormat was soaking wet before the shower because we’d had so much rain the day before and I forgot to set it out in the sun that morning to dry it out. But it was still new and looked better than my old one.
There aren’t too many flowers and plants available at Lowe’s right now, so I went with some round boxwood for my entry and then just potted cyclamen, pansy, and ivy into one pot for my little plant stand. Also from Lowe’s, I picked up some new seat cushions to replace my faded blue ones.
The ivy wreath was an idea from one I saw on Etsy that I loved…until I saw the $135 price tag! So, I repurposed an old heart-shape grapevine wreath that I had with some new artificial ivy from Hoby Lobby.
I say it every season….”I’m going to paint my front door!” I was determined to get it done before the shower to give myself a deadline but every day I’d planned to tackle it we had rain. Lots and lots of rain. So as the shower date got closer, I decided to just order a wooden plaque to dress up the weathered door. It was one that I’ve been eyeing for some time now from ArtisTree on Etsy. They have the cutest wooden signs for any season, occasion, or holiday!
And speaking of signs, I’m sure you’ve noticed the shower sign and balloons. I’ll share more about that and the shower next week, but I’ll go ahead and say this was a fun way to let guests know they were at the right house. It was a kitchen shower, so I found a template on Etsy and just customized it on my computer before sending the file to a print shop. The bride loved it!
So, there you have it! Not everything marked off my list for this front porch, but it’s a great start and I’ll look for a nice day this spring to take care of the pressure washing and door painting. Maybe! But for today, I’m going to finish out the school week with my kiddos this morning so this afternoon we can clean for the weekend and kick our feet up tonight!

I say yes to Friyay, but anyhoo is probably out. 😂😂😂 Love the shower sign. And what a neat keepsake for the couple! Like you, I’m preparing for spring parties and having to pick and choose what I can get done. But your front porch looked lovely and inviting as always!

I was hoping someone would catch that! 😂 🤣 (and so that’s how you spell anyhoo? 😄)
I have a post coming this week with shower details—so much fun. And I can’t wait to hear what all you have planned this spring! Hope you blog ‘em!
