Good Monday morning! I’m just jotting down a few simple blessings from my weekend. Just some sweet tidbits.
On Friday, what started as “Mom, can you please look over my essay with me?” turned into the picture you see below!
My girl and I often make tea when we go over her assignments for her composition course, so we decided to make some tea first, and since it was raspberry truffle tea, we thought chocolate raspberry chocolate chip scones would go perfectly with our tea. One thing led to another and viola! Friday afternoon tea party–delicious!
Saturday night, my husband and I went on an early Valentine’s date! It’s really hard to work in date nights these days, but we’ve committed to making it a priority this year. So, we got a little fancy, ate a delicious dinner at Bonefish, and talked and talked and talked. I felt like Eliza Doolittle in My Fair Lady coming home and singing, “I could have danced all night”.
Sunday, as I was setting the table for lunch, this little kitty girl just popped up in the chair! Do you see her? She loves to watch us work. It’s so cute! I did make her get down but couldn’t resist taking her picture first.
Sunday evening, my daughter’s college chorus sang at our church, and it was so lovely! We are enjoying every last performance before she graduates—in MAY, yikes!
I also had a few fun finds for Valentine’s gifts! I really like Aldi’s seasonal candles and they cost just under $5 which is a great deal for a 3-wick! They have cute seasonal labels, and they smell really good—not as strong as Bath and Body Works, but sometimes those get a little too strong for me anyway. Right now they have the sweetest Valentine candles, perfect for your February decor or to give to your Galentines, teachers, or grandmothers.
And Target has a festive selection of Valentine gift wrap! I love these mix and match patterns in their bags and tissue paper.
Aldi also has heart-shaped pasta! I got one bag for my family and two extra bags to go in gift baskets. I’ll add in a bottle of pasta sauce, a small container of parmesan, and maybe even a loaf of Italian bread. Won’t that make a fun gift basket!
Hope your week is full of all the February feels!

Love all these simple pleasures. Since I got a little snapshot of your scones before your post, they inspired me and Jewell and my BFF to have a little impromptu tea on Saturday, as well! I appreciated the inspiration! We’ll have to double up and post our scone recipes the same day. Yum!
Alinda
And the snapshot that you sent me on Saturday of your scone looked delish! That chocolate whipped cream—oh my! I definitely want your recipe. And, yes, let’s get together on our posts sometime!

That is so sweet of you! Thank you so much!! My daughter is coming home from college this weekend and I thought it would be fun to make for her for Valentines! :). Thank you for protecting my privacy, as well! I really enjoy your blog — you have such a sweet spirit! Have a great day! 🙂

Thank you so much for your kind encouragement, Cindy! I just sent the recipe to your email and I hope you and your daughter have a lovely weekend together! What a sweet idea to make the scones for her while she’s home for Valentine’s!
Cindy
I hope you will share the recipe for the Chocolate Raspberry Chocolate Chip Scones — they sound so good!! 🙂
Alinda
Great idea! If I don’t get it in a blog post soon, I’ll bring the recipe to church. Thanks, Cindy! 🥰
Cindy
I wish I lived close enough to visit/see you in person! I would thoroughly enjoy that! Unfortunately, I’m not the Cindy you are thinking of! I live in Kansas! :). Would you consider sharing it with me via email? Thanks so much!! 🙂
Alinda
Hello, Cindy! Oh, that is so funny! Yes, I have a friend at church named Cindy who reads my blog and I thought it was her. But I remember you too! We’ve talked on Instagram a few times (I’m currently taking a break from IG so I haven’t been on in a while).
Sure, if I don’t post the recipe this week, I’ll be happy to email it to you! Just give me a day or two to get it typed. I saved your email you left but I took it off the public comment for your privacy. Thank you for reading my blog and for commenting–how sweet of you! I would enjoy a visit with you too! Who knows–the Lord may even work that out some day!
