The Ways of Her Home

Embracing the homeward call

Christmas Hello!

December 16, 2020

Good morning, friends! It’s been a while, hasn’t it? The fall season absolutely flew by and I can hardly believe it’s Christmas! It was a very lovely fall season this year, and I soaked up every bit of its color, coolness, and festivity. However, truthfully, I felt I barely kept my head above water most weeks, so blogging took a back seat to other more pressing things. I’ve missed posting here and hope to get in a few Christmassy posts in the next week. I have some recipes to share and some photos from a fun little Christmas getaway my daughters and I took with some friends to the Biltmore Estate in Asheville, North Carolina! I also have a recap of fall in the works.

Right now, I’m heading to the kitchen for a full day of cooking and baking, but just wanted to first pop in here to say Merry Christmas! Tonight is our small group’s Christmas dinner, and I’ll be making a potato dish, cranberry sauce, and wassail (and mac-n-cheese if time). Tomorrow is my husband’s office Christmas lunch so I’m sending an Italian cream cake, red velvet fudge, and chocolate peppermint fudge for the desserts (lunch will be catered). And Friday, the girls and I have a small mother/daughter brunch to attend, and I’ll be taking a blueberry almond coffee cake (a Biltmore recipe! More on that soon!).

NO worries about these gatherings though! Each of the get-togethers are with VERY SMALL groups of conscientious friends who are all following Covid guidelines for social gatherings, and anyone who has so much as a sniffle or even possible exposure to the virus is very good to graciously stay home. We’ve all learned to be quite flexible with our plans this year, haven’t we!

Merry Christmas!

Oh yes, Missy! That is just a little sneak park of my Biltmore inspo! Stay tuned. 😉 I can’t wait to see your tablescape! I know it will be stunning. ❤️
