Good morning, friends! I hope you're in a chatty mood because I'd like to have your input! My blog is almost 5 years old and it's time for some sprucing up. I have a talented young woman who has come to my rescue and is giving my site a fresh facelift and I'm soooo excited! If you have a minute, would you mind commenting and letting me know what kinds of posts here you have found most helpful and encouraging in your homemaking? My blog's purpose will still very much be the same, but your input will help us in moving forward. Thank you! Have a lovely Wednesday. Wow, we're halfway through the week! ... Read more
Happy Monday!
Good Monday morning, friends! I've been a little MIA lately, but all is well. Between homeschooling, a senior year, soccer season, field trips, a car in the shop for 3 weeks, and an unexpected surgery for my daughter....well, I've had a lot going on and my family always comes first for me, so blogging has been pushed to the back burner the last month. But I just wanted to pop on here and give a hello and let you know I'll be back soon. I have had sooo many ideas for content swirling through my head. So much to share! But for now, I'll leave you with a little something that made me smile this weekend. This rose bush is thorny, intrusive, and unattractive for most of the year, BUT for a ... Read more
We’re all Still Here!
Good Friday morning, friends! My blog coverage has been a little spotty lately, but we're all still here--kitties included, of course! Each week I have great plans to knock out sooo many posts! The ideas for content just swirl in my head but the time it takes to get it through my fingers on the keyboard for typing and editing just isn't there some weeks. I truly enjoy blogging! It's been a fun, creative outlet for me! BUT, my home and family come first and even though this blog is about my home and family, it would be hypocritical of me to put all my energy into posts while neglecting my family's needs. Oftentimes, I'll set aside a little pocket of time late in the afternoon before ... Read more
Snapshot Saturday: From Pool to Pumpkin Patch
Happy October, friends! And where did September even go?! It’s been a while since I’ve done a Snapshot Sat post so today I'm sharing some snapshots from our last week of September '22 which included everything from the pool to the pumpkin patch! I'll begin with the pumpkin patch because our family waited alllll summer for this! We drove by it every time we went to town and watched the corn maze grow all the summer long. So, when it finally opened last weekend, we were there to officially kick off our fall season! And my sweet mother-in-law joined us for the day too. Pumpkins everywhere! I love it! This place is more than a pumpkin patch. They have a corn maze, sunflower ... Read more
Snapshot Saturday: Hello, September!
Happy September, y'all! I love the start to a new month, don't you? Our Septembers here in Alabama are always still pretty warm, but this week the temps dropped a *few* degrees and we're seeing subtle signs of fall on the horizon! There's something about this time of year that the animals seem to have an extra spring in their step so I'm beginning with our crazy pets. Miss Liberty Loohoo This cutie pie puppy dog is growing so fast! We've had some beautiful days outside this week and she's really enjoying playing in the yard. Lady Pumpercot Sweet Pumpkin has been a more playful cat now that she has another kitty to run around with which means she needs more naps, ha. My ... Read more
A Wave and a Smile
I like to walk in the mornings when the world is just beginning to stir. The neighborhood is pretty calm with the exception of a few of the early birds leaving their homes to head to work or school. As their cars pass me, I give them a wave and a smile. I figure if they're going to have to leave their comfy homes so early in the morning, they should have a friendly face to see them on their way. Now I cannot actually see the drivers in their cars. In the winter it's still dark when I walk and in the summer there's a glare on the windshields, so I can't really even tell if the drivers are looking at me or not. So, I just smile and wave anyway. Until one morning one of my "regulars" ... Read more
Perfect Popcorn
Friday nights are what our family looks forward to all week! We don't watch television during the week, so we catch up on Friday night. We've worked hard and we're ready to crash and enjoy a relaxing evening. We start with pizza and a few episodes of The Andy Griffith Show followed by our movie-of-the-week. My husband never could watch a movie without popcorn (even at home), and he now has us all trained to expect the same. He makes the popcorn every Friday night and it's simply the best! Today I'm sharing his recipe. (You'll see my hands in the photos because he was sick this particular night so he talked me through it.) You'll need 1 cup of popcorn kernels, a blob of coconut oil, ... Read more
Day of Rest
In our home, Sundays are considered a day of rest. I don't mean that we sleep late and linger over brunch. On the contrary, we rise early enough to get a bit spiffy and have a little breakfast and coffee before heading to church for a morning of Bible study and worship. How is that restful? Getting up and out of the house so early? Well, it's more of a resting in the Lord. And it's pretty wonderful. Worship brings rest. The refreshment we receive while gathering with brothers and sisters to worship God and learn from His Word sets our hearts and minds in restful peace for the week ahead. Through the teachings from Bible class and sermon, we are assured of God's providence in our ... Read more
