Welcome to the weekend! For my snapshots today, I decided to choose one pic from each day this past week. So, here goes! Saturday: Sorghum Fields We drove into the city last Saturday to run some errands and grab some lunch. After a day in the city, I'm always ready to head back home to the country. The drive home is so picturesque and relaxing! Riding past cow pastures and fields of corn, cotton, and soybean help me decompress from the busyness of the city. Last Saturday we noticed a new crop in our area this year that we haven't seen around here before: sorghum! ***** Sunday: Two-Year Old Nursery My daughter and I had the 2-year olds for Sunday morning worship and ... Fluff the Nest Friday: The Great Summer Cleanout and the One Year Rule.
Happy Friday, friends! The kids and I have been chipping away at our summer cleanout list and we follow one simple rule. A year after my husband and I were married, I cleaned out our whole house--all 1292 square feet of it--and was shocked at how much we'd accumulated in that little house in just a year's time. I then made up the "One Year Rule" which I still follow. If we haven't used it or worn it in the last year, it has to go! Of course, there are a few exceptions to this rule like my wedding dress, the children's keepsakes, special china and dishes, etc. But I'm talking about the stuff that is supposed to be the everyday stuff that just isn't getting used like the kitchen gadget we ... Ladies’ Day Out
Yesterday was the first day of a fresh new month--Hello, August! --and my girl and I got to do something fun! My friend, Missy over at The Woods at Whippoorhill, and I have been trying to plan a day just to sit down and discuss a couple of new projects we'll be working on together this year, so we decided we'd make a day of it and meet up in a lovely little historic downtown about 45 minutes away. Our daughters joined us too! Our first stop was a tea and coffee room that had such a fun chic boho decor! I mean, every light fixture, table, cabinet, chair, handle, knob--you name it--were unique and lovely. But the beverages were the showstoppers! Oh. My. We all enjoyed our ... Read more
Snapshot Saturday
Hello! I don't have too many photos to share from this week. Covid went through our household which meant plans were cancelled for the week and my husband worked from home. Thankfully, we all had mild cases with just cold-like symptoms so we were able to get a pretty good bit of work done at home. Yard Work I took this picture the day after Joel tested positive for Covid. He can't be kept down for long. Incidentally, his shirt (a t-shirt my daughter gave him) says "The Man, The Myth, The Legend". I think he's living up to that! ***** The Big Summer Cleanout! Every summer the kids and I do a major cleaning out of all rooms, closets, cabinets, and drawers. ... Read more
Snapshot Saturday
Hello, Saturday friends! I have several snapshots from our week. It was busy with work but also some nice little breaks and visits here and there. Kitten on the Keys We are having so much fun with our little animals. Floyd the kitty is just so funny! He zooms all around like a ping pong ball all over the house. I was in the kitchen one day and heard a plink-plink coming from the piano. I turned to see Floyd was tiptoeing across the piano keys, so I grabbed my phone and snapped a photo. What a cutie. ***** Tea with Friends My tea ladies met for lunch which is always a treat! We enjoyed a full lunch from scones to finger sandwiches to mini desserts. My tea blend of ... Read more
Snapshot Saturday: Lovin’ Summer
Good Saturday morning to ya! Here is a snapshot of our week with just a few of the summery things I’m lovin’! Fresh Peaches I think peaches are the taste of summer! We haven't made it to our favorite Peach Park yet but it's on our bucket list and I've been purchasing peaches from Aldi to hold us over until we get there. We are eating them on salads, yogurt, cereal, and just by themselves! And because I'm in such a peachy mood these days, I brought home this peach candle, also from Aldi. It smells so sweet and summery! ***** Evening Glow I love to be outside at the end of the day when it's just about dark but not quite. The frogs, crickets, and cicadas are all ... Read more
A Cracker Jack of a Snack!
Hey, Cracker Jacks! Hope you all had a great July 4th! We enjoyed several goodies for the holiday including the all-American snack of Cracker Jacks! I made a batch for the 4th and then a second batch for my supper club last night. We meet every other week for dinner and visiting with a theme for the meal. This week's theme was ballpark food! How fun! I signed up for Conecuh sausage dogs with homemade mustard sauce. There is also a sign up each time for someone to bring a takeaway treat for everyone to leave with. I thought the Cracker Jacks would make a fun takeaway treat so I signed up for that too! Homemade Cracker Jacks Ingredients: 16 cups popped corn 1 cup salted ... Read more
Snapshot Saturday: Ch-Ch-Ch-Changes
My apologies if I've put a certain song in your head now just after reading the title of this blog, but we had a lot of changes around here lately, so I've been singing this tune all week, haha. Sunrises I'll start with a snapshot of something that does and doesn't change: the sunrise. I walk most weekday mornings and I snap a photo of the sunrise almost every time because each morning's sunrise is unique from the previous day's and the next day's. Some sunrises are bright and fiery, some are soft and purple, and some are muted with fog. But what doesn't change is the fact that the sun does still rise EVERY day! That's because it's kept in motion by an unchanging Creator. God says ... Read more
