Hello again! Yesterday I shared some photos from a graduation luncheon my friend Kelli hosted for our daughters with our life group mothers and daughters. It was a lemon theme to mark the girls’ “fresh start” for the college years! You can read about it here. Today I'm back to share the evening tea I hosted for the girls and their soccer friends (plus another friend and a cousin). First let me back up and share about a tea my girls and I attended a couple of years ago that my friend Missy hosted for her daughter's graduation. Y'all, this was the tea party of ALL tea parties, and you need to go read both of her posts as soon as you finish this one! It was a Hobbit themed sunset tea, and ... Read more
“A Lemony Fresh Start” Graduation Luncheon
When my younger daughter was four years old, I taught her Bible class at church. She was a quiet little thing who stayed in her own quiet corner, and I had been praying God would send her a sweet friend for her very own. Then one Sunday morning, another tiny little girl with long brown curls and red glasses wearing a smocked dress entered our classroom and our hearts. Her family was visiting that morning and so I introduced her to the class and sat her beside my own little girl. The rest is history! From that very first meeting these two girls hit it off and have been kindred spirits ever since. They've grown up together in homeschooling, church, life group, soccer, and the love of books and ... Spring 2023
Good morning! Before I get too far into summer, I need to record our spring season. Today I'm going to quickly run through some spring highlights and then the rest of the week I'll go back and detail some of my daughter's graduation stuff a little more. I'll go ahead and apologize for the length of this post. It's a big one! In early March my daughter and I took a girls' trip out to Texas to visit my married daughter and son-in-law. We had such a fun visit, and they took us to Homestead Heritage, a self-sufficient Christian community which is also open to the public. It was amazing! We enjoyed shopping in their many shops including the quilting barn (below), general store, grocery ... Read more
Engagement Showers and Celebrations!
Good morning, friends! Well, I've promised wedding posts and this is the week. Over the last week, I've had a little time to rest and dig out of the post-wedding piles so this week I can blog--yay! I'm going to start with all the fun showers and celebrations that were thrown for my daughter and her now husband. Taco 'Bout Engaged! My brother and sister-in-law, along with their son (my nephew) and his girlfriend, and my SIL's mother hosted an engagement party for my daughter and her fiancé plus another nephew and his fiancé! The theme was a Mexican Fiesta and it was so much fun! They served a full Mexican spread of nachos, tacos, salad, and dessert. The flower arrangements were ... Read more
Wake Up and Smell the Roses
Waking up and smelling the roses is exactly what I did Sunday morning! It all began Saturday night when I brought this arrangement home from my nephew and new niece's wedding! If you read my post yesterday about their spring barn wedding, you might remember this arrangement from the arbor by the pond. Well, this was just one of the arrangements from that arbor. My sister graciously offered it to me, and of course I accepted. I brought it home and it filled up my entire kitchen table. A table covered in roses? Don't mind if I do! As tired as I was, I went right to work disassembling it, clipping each flower, and putting them in fresh water for the night. The flowers had been ... Read more
Spring Barn Wedding
My nephew got married this past weekend! He married a precious girl he met at college in their church's campus ministry, and it is a match made in heaven. Their wedding venue was pretty heavenly as well! The couple selected a picturesque barn situated on a rolling hill with a little pond, and it was just perfect. The reception tables inside were so elegant! My sister worked with a wedding coordinator, who happens to be a long-time friend of our family, to pull these together. My sister potted ferns and other green plants for the centerpieces. The gold lanterns, candles, and soft blue runners were provided by the coordinator. The bridesmaids wore light blue dresses, and the ... Read more
When in Waco
In March, my oldest daughter and I took a trip out to Waco, Texas which will soon be her new home following her upcoming wedding! Her fiancé is in graduate school there for the next several years and since she had never been to Waco (we've been to other parts of Texas), a trip out to visit her new town was in order. We saw many interesting places while in Texas, but the Magnolia Silos are what I get asked about the most, so that's where I'll begin. I don't watch Chip and Joanna Gaines's show (I don't have cable tv), so I wasn't exactly going as a fan of the show, but I enjoyed the visit there so much because it was beautiful, pleasant, and loaded with many creative ideas for yard and ... Easter Blessings ’22
Good morning, friends! We had a busy and fun Easter week, so I just want to quickly journal some blessings today. I haven't had have much time this spring to get too involved with my yard, but one morning last week I ran to Lowe's to pick up some flowers to get started on pots and beds. I'd just been gifted a Dunkin' Donuts gift card by Whitney from Come Home for Comfort for answering a Bible-related question on her Instagram story (@homeforcomfort), and since our DD is conveniently located next to Lowe's, it only made sense to swing through the drive-thru and grab a latte to accompany me on my plant shopping trip. This was such a little treasure in my busy week! I mean, flowers and ... Read more
