Hello there! It's Saturday so I have some snapshots from the week, just odds and ends really. Summer evenings will be coming to an end in a few more weeks but the summer garden already came to an end last Saturday when I pulled up everything except my herb bed and tea bed. It was such a mess! Next week I'll post a summer garden recap. While I worked in the garden, the guys worked on a different project. Earlier in the summer, my son and his friends built a raft to ride down the widest and deepest part of the creek which only worked for about an hour, but they were so excited. The experience inspired the idea to build a small boat which the guys have been working on the last few ... Read more
Snapshot Saturday: First Week of School ’24
This week began a new school year for my son in homeschooling and my daughter with her online classes and the preschool where she works. There are always a few things to iron out the first week, but all in all, it was a good first week of school! Smoothies and banana muffins have been the popular breakfast for all so far! We got back to our study routine, sometimes at the kitchen table and sometimes lounging on the couch, but always a candle burning and a cat sleeping close by. I think the pets are happy that we're back to homeschooling. Guitar lessons and tennis lessons will continue this year, and we have great instructors for both! A friend to teach guitar and my nephew to ... Read more

Happy weekend! Just a few photos from the week! The cats love gazing out all the windows of the house, but the kitchen is their favorite right now. My son and his friend are taking tennis lessons from my nephew, and they are loving it. We go into the city for their weekly lesson, but I took them to a nearby tennis court one morning for some extra practice. It's in a neighborhood next to our neighborhood and there is a shaded sitting area for me to read or work in my planner. The zinnias in front of the gas tank had gotten so tall and were hiding that ugly tank so nicely until a heavy storm came and knocked them over....well, flattened them. I tried to lift them but that ... Read more
Snapshot Saturday: Colors of Summer
Happy weekend! In scrolling back through my photos from the week, I was struck by the brightness and color of the season. I'm starting with my favorite little snapshot of the week. During an early morning check of the garden the butterflies were all aflutter, but I managed to catch a quick snapshot of this pretty one with her yellow wings, resting briefly on the dome of a peachy zinnia. I went out one evening to clip some blooms and loved how pretty they were just piled in my basket in every shade of pink. The tomatoes just amaze me with their colors changing through a range of green, yellow, orange, and red. It's just fascinating to observe the progression each day. I ... Read more

Happy Saturday! I'm looking back at my phone photos from the week and here are a few highlights. My son and I called BINGO at the assisted living facility this week and we had a great time with our sweet friends! Everyone was in a lighthearted, cheerful mood so there was a plenty of laughing and joking around throughout the game. Afterwards we spent the rest of the afternoon shopping for fall clothes for my son. This boy is growing so fast and had grown out of his clothes! He's loves telling everyone that he's now 5 feet, 4 and 1/8 inches tall! Yes, he makes sure he gets in the 1/8th inch because he's hoping to pass his mom soon therefore, he's counting every little bit (I'm 5'5" ... Read more
Snapshot Saturday: Sweet Blessings (with a smile!)
Good morning, friends. We had a week that was a mixture of sad and sweet. My sister-in-law's mother passed away and she was so special to our family. Everyone called her Momma Gay, and she was like an aunt to my siblings and me and like a grandmother to all our children. I'll share more about her in another post because she deserves more than a mention, but today I'm going to share some simple blessings of the week. Why? Because all week we've remembered that Momma Gay believed in looking at the bright side and always recommended, "Just put a smile on your face and you'll feel better!" So that's what we're going to do! I was blessed with some baking time this week. I've been working on ... Read more
Snapshot Saturday (on Monday)
I didn't get my Saturday post done on time this weekend and here it is Sunday night now with me trying to decide if it's ok to post my "Snapshot Saturday" on a Monday, haha. Kind of reminds me of a cute I Love Lucy episode called "The Club Election" about Lucy and Ethel's Wednesday Afternoon Fine Arts League and it starts with this little conversation between Ricky and Ethel. Ricky: "Anything special on your mind?" Ethel: “Yeah. I came up to tell Lucy that the Wednesday Afternoon Fine Arts League is meeting on Friday this week.” Ricky: “The Wednesday Afternoon Fine Arts League is meeting on Friday.” Ethel: “Yeah.” Ricky: “I thought you always met on Thursday.” Ethel: “Oh, ... Snapshot Saturday
Hi, friends! We've been busy around here finishing one month and beginning another. Here are a few snapshots from our week. Birthday Trip! January ended with our son's 12th birthday and a special overnight trip to the Great Wolf Lodge in LaGrange, Georgia to enjoy their indoor water park and slides! More on this adventure next week but here's a sneak peek. We all got complimentary wolf ears at the lodge which my son just had to torment the poor cat with. But I must say, it was pretty hilarious how long Floyd left those ears on Our cats put up with a lot! ***** Blogiversary Also at the end of January was my blog's 4th anniversary! You can read my very first post ... Read more
