Homemade Yogurt and Granola

May 26, 2020

We are a household of yogurt eaters which can quickly add up on the grocery bill. With this recipe, I can make FIVE quarts of organic yogurt for less than $10! If you don't care about using organic milk, it's even cheaper. I originally found the recipe on the Titus2 blog, and I can't remember exactly how long I've been making it, but I know we were living in our previous house when I started so that was at least 7 years ago.  I always seem to measure time according to the which house we lived in or how old my children were at the time, ha! Anyone else? We love this yogurt! If you’ve never made yogurt, you’re going to be surprised at how simple it is! Homemade ... Read more

Whole Wheat Banana Muffins

Whole Wheat Banana Muffins on a plate

I sure hope I didn’t just lose anyone with the words whole wheat, because you’ll be missing out on a tasty (and, yes, healthy) breakfast treat! If you’re still with me, hang on for just a minute. Is anyone else tired of eating from the holidays? I can enjoy the junk for only so long, and then I’m glad to get back to fresh fruits, veggies, whole grains, and WATER! Despite the many desserts and goodies I post here on the blog, for the most part, I really try to feed my family healthy meals. The goodies are just our splurge days (holidays, Sunday lunch, etc), but through much of the week, we go fairly healthy. This magical muffin gives you a healthy little carb fix by way of whole grain, ... Read more

‘Twas the Weekend Before Christmas….

December 23, 2019

'Twas the weekend before Christmas, and all through the house... every creature was stirring, and you better believe my table was set! With new dishes! Yay!  I've always wanted a set of Christmas dishes. You know the ones with either a Christmas tree or a snowy scene or holly encircling the border of the dish? So when my husband asked me what I wanted for Christmas this year, I decided on the dishes! He told me to pick them out and he would get them. I know, he's a keeper, right! I searched the entire internet, looking at patterns, reading reviews, and narrowing down my favorites. But then, I saw something I wasn't expecting: the prettiest solid green dishes with a textured lacy pattern! ... Read more

Thanksgiving Week in the Kitchen

November 25, 2019

Happy Thanksgiving week! I've had several recipe posts in mind leading up to this week, but with our busy school schedule and a computer crash, I just haven't been able to make them happen. However, I'm excited to report this week that not only are we on our holiday break from school, but I'm also sporting a new computer. So, hold on to your seats because you're about to get several recipe posts in one! The table above is from last year's Thanksgiving gathering. We hosted my husband's side of the family and enjoyed so many blessings from the time together. This year, we'll be eating with my side of the family at my parents' home and are expecting a large crowd. My parents have always been ... Read more
