Hello there! It's Saturday so I have some snapshots from the week, just odds and ends really. Summer evenings will be coming to an end in a few more weeks but the summer garden already came to an end last Saturday when I pulled up everything except my herb bed and tea bed. It was such a mess! Next week I'll post a summer garden recap. While I worked in the garden, the guys worked on a different project. Earlier in the summer, my son and his friends built a raft to ride down the widest and deepest part of the creek which only worked for about an hour, but they were so excited. The experience inspired the idea to build a small boat which the guys have been working on the last few ... Read more
Pup Cup at Home
Coffee shops are popping up everywhere and they are fun but so expensive! While on our trip to Texas earlier this summer, we enjoyed stopping at different coffee houses just about every day which began a habit. A few weeks after we came back home, we noticed that we were stopping at coffee shops around town more often than we had before and it was getting expensive. So, it was time to cut back again and to be honest, even though it's fun to get a coffee out every now and then, we've decided we really just like our coffee from home better than anything else anyway! And it's not just the people cutting back, the dogs are required to make some changes too. Pup cups are now being served at ... Read more
Little Neighbors are Big Blessings
My sister, Katie, was the baby of the family and she was such a cute little girl! The neighbors thought she was pretty cute too. One day the lady next door called my mom to tell her how much she enjoyed hearing Katie sing "Jesus Loves Me" at the top of her lungs while swinging in our back yard! So sweet. I think about that story now as I have my own little neighbors to enjoy, and they are just so precious. There are a lot of children on our street, and they sing and play and ride their bikes all around the neighborhood. Here a couple of the sweet ways they've blessed us lately. Sunflower Day! Our sunflowers have consistently stayed turned towards our neighbors' yard all summer. My ... Read more
Lady Liberty!
Happy Independence Day from Lady Liberty! Well, not that Lady Liberty...... ....this Lady Liberty! Isn't she cute! My daughter got her exactly two years ago this week, the day before the 4th of July, so she named her Liberty. For the last several weeks she's been away at "good girl school" (the dog, not my daughter, haha) and we are so happy she's finally home! She came home so grown up and nicely disciplined, my daughter and I decided she deserves the title of Lady. My son helped me get the front porch cleaned up and a few patriotic touches added. I wasn't going to put out the fanned buntings this year because they're getting old. My son was disappointed and said it would ... Read more
Snapshot Saturday: January 2023
I did not keep up with my weekly "Snapshot Saturday" posts during January so here's just a quick summary of the whole month. These are in very random order. I'll start with the pets. King Kat Floyd has a way of lounging on our beds with this expression of confident ownership. When he does this Joel calls him "King Kat". If I Fits, I Sits My daughter says this is Pumpkin's life motto because she tries out everything to see how it "sits". I had just emptied this basket in my bedroom, and she did not hesitate to fill it up with herself. Partners in Crime I left the linen cabinet open one morning while I was getting ready, and the cats couldn't resist jumping ... Read more
Snapshot Saturday: Soaking Up Autumn
Good morning and happy weekend! Boy, these weeks sure pass quickly, don't they? I'm soaking up as much of autumn as I can because it'll be gone before we know it. This week we've been doing a lot of work inside and outside in preparation for some upcoming gatherings and just the holidays in general. It's exciting how close we are to the holidays! We have our daughter's soccer team coming this weekend and our life group coming next week. It's so much fun entertaining outside during the fall evenings so we're trying to finish some areas for sitting and doing activities. While working last weekend I noticed this fungus on a tree. Isn't it interesting! My friend told me it's called ... Read more
Snapshot Saturday: Some of Everything
Good Saturday morning! I'm a little late with this post but I want to save these snapshots from the week so I'm going to go through them speedily! We trick-or-treated with our neighbor friends on Halloween night and the kids had a blast! Halloween isn't our favorite, so we don't do a lot with it, but we love costumes and of course we love time with friends so it's fun to get together for an evening of dressing up and eating tons of candy. Some of my photos are little blurry here---sorry--but I want to show you how pretty some of the front porches were with their fall decorations. Afterwards our friends invited us back to their house for a delicious chili supper and ... Read more
