I love the autumn and Thanksgiving! I savor the season while it lasts. Our family went on a hike at a nearby trail yesterday and I made sure to soak up every last drop of fall because it seems that once Thanksgiving is over, fall is over too. We're supposed to get some heavy rains Friday which will most likely shed the trees of the last of their pretty leaves. It's okay because we treasured every minute of fall and its beauty, its color, its pumpkins, its bonfires, its hayrides, and its pumpkin spice! Still, I'm so happy we got one last long autumn walk! Leaves How silently they tumble down And come to rest upon the ground To lay a carpet, rich and rare, Beneath the ... Read more
Cranberry Apple Chutney
Happy week of Thanksgiving! My girl is home and I'm one happy mama! She and her hubby arrived Saturday afternoon and we have already had so much family fun. This week we plan to just enjoy being together, watch some movies, do a little hiking, maybe some shopping, and cook and bake for Thanksgiving. In order for the week to not be so hectic while they're here, I've done a few things ahead of time in the last few weeks and one of those things was making our annual cranberry apple chutney. Since I was already making this chutney to go on a cheese/cracker platter for my ladies' small group a couple of weeks ago, I went ahead and made enough for Thanksgiving week. This has been a favorite of ... Read more
Snapshot Saturday: Holidays, Gatherings, and Chilly Weather
What a fun week! A busy, but fun week! Sister Saturday Last Saturday our church hosted a Sister Saturday which comes around quarterly with a different theme. The theme this time was "Homemade Holiday". I took my mom and my mother-in-law, and we enjoyed four classes including homemade gifts, holiday games, holiday food, and table setting/flower arranging. I didn't think to take pictures until we got to the table setting/flower arranging class. If you enjoy flowers and beautiful tablescapes, you'd love this class! The lady you see in the photo above decorated all the tables you see here and gave a lesson on flower arranging along with handy tips for your tablescapes. She's so ... Read more
Thanksgiving Scripture Journal
Happy Sunday! I don't normally post on Sundays, but I want to hop on quickly to share something I'm loving in this season of thankfulness. My friend Missy has been "stamping" for several years which means I've been blessed with many of her lovely handmade stationaries. We managed to meet for coffee last week and she brought me something new she'd made. Along with a sweet card and thoughtful note, she gave me a Thanksgiving scripture journal for the month of November! I'm already enjoying daily blessings from my time with this journal in the mornings. There is beauty on every page both in its fall artwork and in the meaningful scripture study. Each day offers a scripture for ... Read more
A Cracker Jack of a Snack!
Hey, Cracker Jacks! Hope you all had a great July 4th! We enjoyed several goodies for the holiday including the all-American snack of Cracker Jacks! I made a batch for the 4th and then a second batch for my supper club last night. We meet every other week for dinner and visiting with a theme for the meal. This week's theme was ballpark food! How fun! I signed up for Conecuh sausage dogs with homemade mustard sauce. There is also a sign up each time for someone to bring a takeaway treat for everyone to leave with. I thought the Cracker Jacks would make a fun takeaway treat so I signed up for that too! Homemade Cracker Jacks Ingredients: 16 cups popped corn 1 cup salted ... Read more
Simple Summer Table
Happy Monday, friends! I promise the wedding posts are coming this week, but while I'm working on those, I thought I'd quickly share about our Father's Day meal. Our family hosted this year, and it was also my sweet sister-in-law's birthday so I wanted to put together some tables that would be pretty for my SIL but not too frilly for the dads being honored. Having just had the wedding the weekend before, I didn't even have a plan for the tables except that I would probably use some patriotic papers goods I had on hand and do an "All American Dad" theme. But then the day before Father's Day I noticed the 10 potted rosemary plants on my porch that were left over from the wedding (details ... Read more
Easter Blessings ’22
Good morning, friends! We had a busy and fun Easter week, so I just want to quickly journal some blessings today. I haven't had have much time this spring to get too involved with my yard, but one morning last week I ran to Lowe's to pick up some flowers to get started on pots and beds. I'd just been gifted a Dunkin' Donuts gift card by Whitney from Come Home for Comfort for answering a Bible-related question on her Instagram story (@homeforcomfort), and since our DD is conveniently located next to Lowe's, it only made sense to swing through the drive-thru and grab a latte to accompany me on my plant shopping trip. This was such a little treasure in my busy week! I mean, flowers and ... Read more
Fun Treats for Your Easter Peeps
Good morning, peeps! I'm popping in here quickly to share some very simple ideas for cute Easter treats! I don't think there's anyone who doesn't get excited at the first sighting of Easter Peeps each spring. I'll tell you a secret though: I don't really love eating the peeps, but I do have a lot of fun using them in what I call "food crafts". First up, fruit skewers with peeps gets some healthy fruit in the kids' diets but with a small sugary treat that says "Easter"! My girls and I made these precious bunny peep cars one year with Twinkies for the car body, pretzels for the steering wheel, and jumbo marshmallows for the tires. These were a hit with all our little cousins. Aren't ... Read more
