Our family has two dogs, two bunnies, and a leased horse (and would totally add a cat if one of my kids wasn’t allergic). Our newest pet—a puppy we gave Incredi-Boy for a very special milestone—joined the family this summer! If you have pets, you know all too well that pet care is one of the many works of our hands in any given day, and this new puppy has kept our hands quite busy!
Meet Barney. I know, he looks pretty adorable, doesn’t he? Well, I have another name for him: The DESTROYER.
If you can just look past the beautiful chocolate coat and those mesmerizing eyes, you’ll notice a plant hanging out of his mouth.
That plant was just one of MANY he has dug up from my yard. I don’t know what it is about my plants, but, whether they’re in flower beds or pots, he just won’t. leave. them. alone.
He’s found the elephant ears to be a lot of fun to pull out of the ground and carry around in his mouth all day. In this photo he’d only yanked out a few, but now they are just GONE!
He’s also taken a liking to my Autumn Joy, so Joel finally had to put the puppy gate around it to keep him out.
Then there are my herbs that he’s finding especially appealing. He completely uprooted my parsley, and is now working on my oregano and thyme every time he goes out.
What’s worse, he brings the uprooted plant to the patio to destroy it a little further and deposit dirt all over the furniture.
I keep finding piles of dirt like the one below where he has emptied a pot for me to clean up.
But when I’m trying to clean up after him, he turns even that into a game, trying to catch and bite my swinging broom.
Sometimes he gets away with it!
And then there are the toys and tools with which he litters the patio and yard.
In order to keep these things out of his reach, we had to push all the furniture to one corner, and put everything else up on the mantle.
Unfortunately, the inside of our house has suffered Barney’s wave of destruction as well. We’ve learned to keep all doors closed, curtains tucked up on the rod, and kitchen towels away from the edge of the counter.
He’s just a nonstop ball of energy!!
And although it can be pretty frustrating, he is still bringing us so much joy and entertainment. We love him and find him to be a great addition to the family.
Who could stay mad at a face like that?

Oh we love this story😂😂& funny photos! What a beautiful pup💕 We totally get it but the joy & laughter is non-stop! Mollie demands with a stare precisely at 8:15 to be “tucked in”. She gets Bob’s shoes every morning for 10 a.m. walk & expects a treat for going out to potty. Yup she trained Nonie & Paw well & we’re keeping up…w/o the table food tho…and slowly getting rid of all our black clothes. 😘 to you all!

Our dogs keep us on a strict schedule too! 😂 That Mollie is such a funny little thing! 🐶 We sure miss her, but we are so thankful she’s with you and Bob! Hope you’re all having a great summer. 😊

Exactly as you said it: Who can stay mad at a face like that!

I know, right?! When he’s naughty, we’re half frustrated and half laughing. It’s crazy. But as you know from your own pups, they’re just a fun part of the family!! 🐶
