The Ways of Her Home

Embracing the homeward call

Bargain Days!

May 8, 2019

Two things I enjoy shopping for are gifts and home decor. But it’s important that I shop wisely and find good deals so those expenses aren’t a burden on the family budget. I’m always eager to hear from other women about any good deals they’ve found, so today I’d like to share a few good bargains that I’ve scored lately.

1) Outdoor Festival Blankets- I found these festival blankets at Five Below for, you guessed it, five dollars! They are thinner than the heavier duty ones that can go on wet grass, but they’ll still be great for all those summer concerts and picnics.

I used the blue ones as gifts for Incredi-Boy’s soccer coaches (they’re both women) since the uniforms were blue this year, and tied his thank you notes on with some cute soccer ball ribbon. I’m saving the pink one to have on hand for when I need a quick gift spur of the moment.

2) Gingham Napkins- I found these spring gingham napkins at Home Goods marked down to $5 for a set of six! Anytime I can find a good cloth napkin for a dollar a napkin, I snatch it up! These packs offered six in each set, bringing the price down to below $1 a napkin, PLUS they included a cute rick rack trim. Great deal, and I know I’ll use them a lot for spring and summer.

3) Lemon Placemats- I’ve been looking for some very inexpensive placemats for just casual weeknight meals. I wanted something with a little summery color and something I could throw in the washer and dryer, and then back onto the table. I found these cloth lemon placemats at Dollar General in packs of two for three dollars. It seems you can not find a cloth placemat for less than $3 or $4 these days, so I was happy to get these for $1.50 each!

I love the lemons on them! They are so bright and fresh! And I knew I had green and yellow dishes that would coordinate well with these placemats. The yellow melamine plates are some that the girls gave me for Mother’s Day one year. They are perfect for summer!

I was so inspired by the lemons on my new placemats, that I served lemon salmon Monday night. I’m extremely excited that it’s finally time for summer cooking again! We’ll soon be moving meals outdoors and working that grill overtime!

Have a lovely day, friends!!

I love those placemats—so cheerful for summer! And I’ll have to check out Home Goods for napkins; I go through so many paper napkins and want to reduce waste by switching to cloth instead. Finding some that are inexpensive AND pretty is a win-win, for sure!

Yes, it is a win win Lisa! Watch for sales right after a holiday. The napkins are pricey leading up to a holiday but I find deals right after. Those gingham napkins were from their Easter line, yet I’ll use them for the rest of spring and all summer with different color schemes. Thanks for reading!
