I came home last night after being out of town the last few days. My “Sweet Home Alabama” sign welcomed me at the state line and even though there were a couple of more hours of driving to go, it felt like home was close.

I was surprised at how many new signs of spring had popped up in just the few days I was gone. I snapped this photo of a field near our home. It’s nice when you start to see familiar pieces of land. I noticed that this summer crop had been prepped while I was gone. Not sure if the seed is in the ground yet or not, but a plowed field is a sign that summer corn is definitely in our future!

I opened my bedroom blinds this morning to see this pink burst of azalea blossoms!

We’re about to get some bad storms today so I went out for a few minutes this morning to check the progress of the garden. I actually walked around it in the dark last night trying to see everything because I just couldn’t wait. And then I couldn’t wait to get out there again this morning to see it in the daylight. I got a potting table for my birthday which arrived the night before I left town, so my son assembled it for me while I was gone. I’m so excited to have this!

The tomato plants are well on their way. They were much smaller when I left.

I think I’ll be making salad this week! I added the little wire trellises to this box even though lettuce doesn’t need a trellis; I just thought they were a nice decoration for now, but it tickles me that they look like little tombstones thinking how symbolic that is with some of the things I try to grow (and then kill) in my garden, haha.

Now, back inside, the thunder is rumbling, and the rain is beginning to patter down. I’ve got a to-do list a mile long–always the case when coming back home, right? I usually hit the ground running on Mondays to get the school week off to a strong start and the laundry and house back in order. Today it’s been a slower start, but now here I go!!
Happy Monday!

Beautiful signs of spring!! Yes, as much as we can use the spring rains, your Dad has been dreading them in a way. Our row of azaleas across the back property line have been in full bloom and lovely. Hard rains will knock off some of the blooms. We took pictures to help us remember their colorful announcement of spring!!
I know, it’s going to be sad if we lose too many blossoms! 😩
I hope you had a great trip. What beautiful pictures. Your garden is coming along really well.
My Monday is off to a slow start too.
Thank you, Heidi! And here’s to slow starts on a Monday! 😅
