Good morning! A couple of weeks ago (Aug. 5) I challenged myself to put out a blog post every day until the end of the month. After taking a long break through late winter and most of spring, I was ready to post again but couldn’t get in my groove, so I thought this challenge would help me. I’ve never had a set posting schedule and hopefully after this month I will. I’ve truly enjoyed blogging every day this month, but wow my hat is off to those of you who consistently post several times a week and have done so for many years!!
Ok, so for today! I have several longer posts in the works that aren’t ready and we were out all afternoon yesterday and then late last night. So, I thought I’d just spin through my camera roll, land on a very random photo and post that! Here are two photos since they go together.
Back when my daughter was engaged and her fiancé (now my SIL) came to stay with us, he stayed in my son’s bedroom. We’ve always called my son’s room “The Lodge” because it has a wilderness theme to it and is masculine decor, so when any guys stay at our house, we tell them they can have the lodge!
My son was so excited not only to be getting a new big brother, but to have him staying in his room, so he eagerly rolled out the red carpet! After I had cleaned the room and placed clean sheets on the bed, he came in with some items to bump up the accommodations to VIP status. I walked back in the room later to find the nightstand offering tissue, a flashlight, assorted snacks, and bottled water (the water bottles have music note paper on them because they were left over from my daughter’s senior recital that you can read about here.) And the best part was the welcome sign he’d drawn out on his Etch-A-Sketch and placed on the bed. Maybe he should go into the hospitality biz!
It reminded me of when I used to stay at my sister’s house and always slept in my nephew’s room. Our families had been to Disney World together several times so we’d all had learned the art of the Disney towel folds, and that cute kid would leave me a Mickey-shaped towel on the bed! And of course, I’d leave him a little tip at the end of my stay. Kids are such fun aren’t they!
Have a great day!

Happy memories!! That welcome sign is impressive!
Alinda
Yes! I’d forgotten how good his sign was so I’m glad I had a photo of it. Maybe he should take Etch-A-Sketching back up! 😉

There are some equally pampered and spoiled “kitty cousins” at our house!! Our entire extended family knows how to spoil our feline and canine pets!
Alinda
Oh my, isn’t that the truth!! 🤣 🐈 🐶 🐈⬛
Mrs.T
How fun! Some really good ideas there! How smart that you documented the moment and could blog about it!
Alinda
Thank you, Mrs. T! And I didn’t even plan to post it way back when I snapped the photo— just thought it was cute and wanted to remember it. 🥰
Rivers
He gets his hospitality from his momma!! I love that he is imitating you and honoring his guest in a special way!
Alinda
You’re so sweet, thank you Rivers! Kids always get so excited about company coming, don’t they!
Heidi
What a sweet boy. I am quite impressed with his etch a sketch abilities.
Alinda
lol, me too, Heidi! That was the year we let him watch ELF at Christmas and he was very inspired for a while after that by Buddy’s Etch-A-Sketch work. 😂
